This guy has almost doubled in size in the 2 weeks since we bought him!! Noddy/Johnny does this help identify this little guy?

I still haven't named him...

please explain yourself and provide us with the source of your information.
If you can't , then don't post at all,please.

Brooksie, i still have my mind set on an ancistrus specie, but the growthrate is possibly gonna prove me wrong.
I'll get my books out soon, and see if i can be more conclusive.
Can you allready count his backfin spines for me, when he's showing off?

Noddy, I was hoping the pics would help with that. This is probably going to cause me to loose a little ground in the "Brooksie knows something about fish" category.

But I'm confused about what you are looking for (count the backfin spines).... I think I know, I can see it on pics of other plecos but not on mine. Let's try these - hope they help!

the plec still looks good. i think often times in the states, that if the pleco isn't listed as something specific...that often times it is a common pleco. not saying anything is wrong with the common plec, for I love mine and he has plenty of personality and uniqueness.

Thanks Cebo... he is a cutey for sure and growing like crazy! The only thing I can tell about him right now is that his dorsal and tail fin have stripes and that the side fins (4 total) have dots. Doesn't he know you shouldn't wear stripes and polka dots !!!

stripes and polka orleopard dots indeed.
And looking at thet fellow some more and his growth rate ,plus going over the whole cat-E-log, i'm getting more and more convinced it's one of the bigger species.
Pterigoplichtys Sp. is what comes to mind now...
Don't know if that is what you were hoping for.
What did they tell you it was at the LFS again?

The pics I found on the web of that pleco show all dots? Do you think his stripes will go away?

I'm not really hoping for anything... not picky. The girl at the fish store said "Ahhh... it's a pleco... didn't know there were different kinds". Got to love fish stores!!!!

No, not picky, but there's quite a difference in bioload, when you get a 1 foot plus pleco added, instead of the ancistrus i guess at first, but that will take time...
You can allways upgrade before that.

What about the spots and stipes thing? Does that narrow the search down any?
