I think that people should be aware that images that are on the Internet are subject to copyright. I have to protect myself as owner of the website and warn anyone that they may be breaking copyright law if they use the photographs for what other purposes without permission.
Now there is a fine line with using photographs for your own projects, and using other people's photographs to make money for yourself. The way that I see it, use people's photographs fairly, this means don't profit from them, don't alter them and anyway, and really, obtain the owner's permission to use them if you are going to use them.
Obviously, some photos are so widely publicised, it's virtually impossible to know who actually owns them so in these cases, it would be up to the owner to rightfully claim ownership of the photo, and prove it, that is my opinion anyway
