The aro is silver.
The fish are seperated until they all grow to about the same size so one will not be being bullied by the other. Really I am trying to let the small Oscar and the aro catch up with the big Oscar.

aro can withstand the oscar... but with that swimming space,
your aro is doomed.. once gill plate curled up...it will be
in trouble...aro need a swimming space not the depth of the tank.
i suggest enclose just the bigger o,let the smaller one and the
aro enjoys the longer swimming space....

The oscars almost killed the aro when I first put him in. He won't be in there for long, I put him there to let him get adjusted to the tank and establish his territory, and maybe grow just a little bit.

I can try putting the small oscar and the aro together but the small oscar hates the aro more than the big one does.

What should I do if the small oscar beats the hell out of the aro?

Thats a tough situation. Did you put the aro in the tank with the Oscar while the Oscars had there territory established? You may try taking the fish out, changing around all the decor, then let the fish re establish territories.

I know the feeling though tony. sometimes you come to realize that it just might not work.

Good luck.

in my case... i had just switch tank..aro stays with the pangs while the
two oscars settle with the 5 footer... however, the leftover oscar keeps
chasing the pang and aro, thus i put him with the pair and put a separator
just wanna share the idea....

Well I tried to put the aro in with both oscars, they both attacked him. He's cut up so I put him back by himself and he's healing up. What I'm going to do is let him get bigger by himself.

I'm going to move the divider over to give him more space when I see that he needs it, to prevent gill curve. When he is big enough I will put him in with the oscars. They will be on a diet so they won't be growing too much.

As for the oscars I'm going to try putting the big one over on the little one's side to give the little one a homefield advantage, and hopefully they can work the territory thing out semi-peacefully.

Cebosound, No I haven't tried that, that will be what I do next time I re-introduce them.

Paul, How fast did your aro grow?
