i'm still trying to figure out how this forum thing works....

i saw the pics of your stock!! beautiful fish you have. nice photos as well.

question: do you have caves in your tank and do your oscars like them? my tiger loves to swim in and out of them checking them all out etc...
so far i haven't read anything about setting up oscar tanks with caves ...and i didn't see many caves in the ofl videos. i was just wondering if that is a characteristic of oscars.

The first time I raised oscars, I also had artificial cave. Yes, they explore the inner cave. However, I observed they spend more time outside, moving rocks and stones around until one day, they broke the glass flooring of my tanks. When I lost them due to the negligence of my son, I never install artificial cave with my next tank. I just add substrate to protect the bottom glass floor.

i dont have caves for my oscars but i do for a couple of the tankmates i have only to give them somewhere to hid from the o's. i beleive the problem with caves for oscars is that eventually they have to be rather large. and i find that if my oscars cant hide then they are easily visable and since they are the display fish in the tank i think the easier to see them the better.

just my opinion
