i am just curious, why two different specie in one tank
instead of two oscar? anyway, they will produce same bioloads
and requires same water parameters?
the only advantage of that set up is that no chance for
spawning and having two different fish characters.
The tank started out a year ago with 2 albino oscars, a tri color shark, the red hook, 7 giant danos, and the albino pleco. I was hoping since the 2 oscars were only 1" and would grow up together and that even if they were 2 males they would co-exist peacefully.......didn't happen so one was given away. The tri color shark went carpet surfing about 2 months ago, and of course the giant danos were eatin once the oscar gained some size.....but that was expected. I plan to add a few more silver dollars soon but unfortunately the oscar may have to be the only one. The chances of successfully adding another mid sized oscar to the tank now is slim because I don't know if this one is male or female, and now it's territory is the whole tank.
I do 50% water changes weekly and with a sand substrate I vacuum out the waste that is visible weekly.
