These are pics of my water test on my new tank. So far so good!





As you can see we added side supports to keep the sides from bowing too much.

I can't stop stairing at the tank and thinking the worst! It's going to be a loooong day!

are the supports welded 1" x 1" angle iron?????? what kind of welder did you use if so?????? im just wondering as i thought mig or arc would melt the glass .....realy nice job!!!!!!!!!!!!! cant wait to see it set up

Yep supports are one inch angle, it was welded with a mig welder off the tank. Then we siliconed them on. So the bottom pieces are welded to the side pieces, the top support is free standing and all is siliconed on tho the tank.

Good god I can't breath. I want this to work so bad.

aahhh.......got you ..i thought you could have welded the top straps in 1" flat bar to the insides of the angle uprights.....then slid the tank into the frame down from the top!!!!!!!!! but im sure your method will be fine,but its not to late to modify the top supports if it makes you feel more confident

well the only thing we were really concerned with is the fact that the tank is made out of 1/4 inch tempered glass. Not as thick as I would like but we talked to several people who have built tanks and they said with the pieces of glass all being about the same size preasure would be about the same all the way around.

We tried water testing without the side supports on the tank and blew one side out after is sat for about 6 hours. So we built the side and bottom supports as an after thought. I really can't see mow why it wouldn't hold but mommas worry. Thanks just what we do.

how long are you planning on testing for? Ive never done that so i wouldnt know.

I am going to leave it for about 24 hours. That is probably over kill but that is a lot of water that I don't want in the carpet.!
