Frank - it definitely works. I just finished a water change and nitrate is around 5ppm. But they recommend changing them every 2 months, and they may not last that long. For around $17 if they lasted 2 months and only needed to recharged every 2 weeks, I'd say they'd be worth it, since it seems they keep my nitrates around 10ppm or half of what they would be. But I'll have to see how long they're effective.

How long does the purigen last before you have to change it?

Excellent video Mike just what we needed to use as an example for tank size requirements. That is one good looking Oscar we should be seeing more of him in the future, well done.

unc I recharge the purigen every 2 months or so...I think

I read people.using the same purigen for over 1 yr..inwould say the oldest purigen I have is roughly 4 to 5 months old

Lamm - he's definitely grown a lot in his second year. But I've also done a pretty bad job of measuring him. I thought he was 7-8" after 12 months, when he was probably closer to 9" and has grown another 2 or 3" in the last 6 months. Looking at the video, I guess he's closer to 12" than the 10" I thought before. :laugh:
