I had these two okes when I was still very much stupid about Oscars, and their very particular tank size requirements.
Fortunately that's not what killed them, or maybe it's unfortunate since a tank change would have been an option.
We had many alterations done to the house, and the tank was moved twice in a very short space of time, between constant construction and such.
The first one died soon after the tank was moved the first time, and then the second one didn't last long after. I suspect there was some internal infection if I recall their stringy poo and such.
Two weeks I spent with daily water changes, medication and so forth but I think the surroundings in the house, as well as it's mate dying recently was ultimately not beneficial.
However I'm better for it ultimately, as I learnt a hell of a lot about them in those times, and I realised also that one can get just as emotionally invested in a fish as any other pet out there.
Which is why the next Oscar tank will be a proper one of at least 1,5m and offering more than 55 gallons per fish.
Anyway, on that sombre note...
