When i resize my photos i use paint which i believe all computers have. click on programs and go to accessories you will find paint here in the list. Alternatively right click on the photo and go to open with then choose paint. click on image at the top and then stretch/skew in stretch reduce 100%horizontal to 20 and the same to vertical. Your photo will then be resized and should reduce the file size this takes seconds you will need to save the file under a different name if you wish to save the original. your favourite Oscar pic will be ready to download to your favourite Oscar site

Actually, this is a really good way of resizing photos, never actually realised you could do it in paint. There's only one drawback, it doesn't actually work in pixels, just percentage. However, I don't think this really matters. I have added a photo that you can work by. Try not to get any bigger than one below. What I did with the photo below is actually open up the picture in paint. It had come straight from my digital camera and hadn't been resized at all. I think it was around 3 MB and around 3000 pixels in size. Obviously this is far too big for a forum. I made it 15% which brought it down to around 460 pixels wide and around 35 kb in size. If you are not computer literate, this will probably mean nothing to you

Thanks to dinger for pointing out that paint is an extremely good way of resizing photos.

This is a wombat from a Wildlife park called Something Wild I visited for

I rarely get to see these in the wild anymore, too many cars have taken over.

I use fireworks for all my images, but the file size limit hurts me there pngs are big and converting them to jpegs reduces the quality alot.

paint is good for the not-so-savvy with computers. In fact, with mine, you don't have to go to open with paint, just right-click and go to edit.

The only problem I have with using paint is the quality it renders ... or maybe it is just jpeg I am un-thrilled with

I have too many picture programs ... but I almost always use Gimp for the quality (and value since the price is right - free).
