Hi guys and gals just wondering what kind of fish this is it was cought on a river down the road from a friends little brother. Im from Iowa if u needed to know the location.

I am almost certain that it is a sturgeon. If it is... you just cought a baby. These things can weigh hundreds of pounds. Also i hope you released it because they are on the endangered list.

well i didnt catch it. it was a friends little brother. I had no idea sturgeon lived around here. ill have to call and see if they did or not. Thats crazy though

Yeah they are fairly rare. Hence the endangered part. But they typically live in rivers. They can be fun to catch. Especially the large ones. But i do believe it is a law to practice catch and release with this type of fish.

well there not so rare here in iowa!! well the big ones are but the small ones used to be caught regularly

sturgeon ........... they have great caviar !!!!!!!! but grow massive !!!!!!! over 10 feet

they grow huge here in Lake Superior, I don't think they're catch and release here but most people do.

well ill let it go i didnt want to say nothing but he is in my tank at this time lol hes doing good in a 250 gallon tank but since its a rare fish ill let him go. hes about 2 foot long really weard looking but kinda neat. i didnt want to say nothing once u guys said there so rare but ssshhhh... u guys are the only ones that know besides my son and hes 20 months old lol thanks
