# Dwarf Anubias (Anubias nana)
# Afzeli Anubias (Anubias afzelii)

Always been keen of the idea of plants in the tank, with a little research and the help of OFL , and a visit to the LFS, i bought me some "Anubias"
3 dwarf ones and 1 big one

4 plants and a spare piece of flat driftwood, the guy at the LFS suggested i tie them down to the wood with fishing line and in due time the roots will attach themselves to the wood..so here goes
PS a similar setup to what ive done at the LFS is around $130 same size and well established ,where mine do it your self ,cost around $60... im pretty happy with the result so far..

My only concern was getting the plants in the tank, then the O,s tearing the shit out of them..(i said to the guy at the LFS) , and then he said "if they do that (the Oscars), take a photo because i wanna see it", "there hearty plants they wont do that"..MAN I WISH I HAD THE CAMERA HANDY , WITHIN 30 SECS THE LITTLE OSCAR RIPPED THE SMALLEST "Anubias" TO BITS IN PROTEST ONLY RUINING 2 LEAVES , THANK GOD

That looks great Hun. But Your LFS guy is full of CRAP... My oscars tear up any plant in the tank. including the fake ones...

lol i was about to say the same thing nickisue! atleast every few days i have to dip out a piece of a fake plant that my oscar decided it needed to destroy!

fishing line huh? i hope you tied it rather loosely, as that plant grows it will cut into it and possibly kill them.

I tried those plants too, because the leaves where very hard.
Your fish'll never eat those plants! i was told.
I bought a "motherplant" , real big, real nice,real costly
to find it not eaten indeed the next morning.
Just ripped to shreds......
That was the limit, last real plant out.

im wantin to give the live plants a shot now that i have a light that can keep them alive on my tank. (the fixture was 10 bucks and the 2 bulbs were 20??? how the hell does that make any sense?)


ill be getting anubias, and probably java moss/japanese moss balls. i would like to see a carpet of green in there like i have in my puffer tank. damn that would be pretty.

True, but all my plants get thrashed or die eventually.
I can keep fish alive, and got some "Dr. Greenthumb" expierience, but plants in my tanks does not seem to work.
My puffertank and guppybreeder have some plants that survive, but those fish don't mess with them.

java moss is inedible correct?
