For all of picture starved Oscar lovers here is are some pics of my set up so far.





Still need cover and canopy as well as some decor decorations. Running a fluval 405, I am surprised how loud it is!

Looking good so far. If your filter is vibrating, try standing it on a towel or something. However, if it is the actual water running through the filter, then I don't think there's much you can do about that.

looks good i like the set up, if the filter is just set up i had probs with mine being noisy cause of the air that is trapped in it might try using if there the priming for it cause when i clean mine i get that and when i prime it, it helps with the noise.

Fluvals shouldnt be noisey. Most common cause is air in the system. Try tilting the filter. If some air comes out then it is air. Continue tilting until the noise goes.

It could be the impeller rattling which can be caused by a broken impeller shaft or broken impeller cover

with regards to the noise, try to shake the canister a little,
sometimes, an air bubbles trap in the system creates noise.

Thanks for your replies. Tried tilting the filter and it seemed to work. I just have a question about decorations, I am planing on grabbing all of my decor from my cottage which is on a secluded lake in northern Canada. (No pollution, etc.) What type of precautions do you think I should take before introducing the rocks and driftwood I collect there into my tank.

When you collect rocks scrub them and then pour vinegar on them. If they fizz dont use them
