He is obviously developing his adult colours, baby Oscars always have a completely different colouration so when they are adults. In many cases, they have a more camouflage colour.

cheers guys, my tank i think is finally cycled... parameters seem pretty much perfect...
one quick question, sorry if its not really in the right place...
with my water being good at the minute, how often and to what extent would you do water changes?
i have (in my opinion) very good filtration, so could i get away with cleaning out the filters regularly without changing a lot of the water??
thanks for the lovely comments, i'll try and get one of them both together soon..

testing the water is the key for the timing of water change. the moment
you hit 40 nitrate, time to wc. filter? do not clean until the flow rate
had change

Keeping nitrates in check can only be done by waterchanges.
The amount and frequenty needed could be determined by doing your nitrate test.
If levels start to rise, you know it's time.
Most of my wc are done for the estetics of my tank, nitrates allways stay in check, but I still do 50% wc.
I intend to test what happens with less frequent changes, for the arguments sake.

thanks guys, excellent advice as always...
i am currently using the multi-parameter test strips, testing pretty much every day, but will get myself a liquid test kit if these are better, and keep an eye on things..
