I wanted a pic of my Oscar as avatar, so I tried yesterday morning to take some photos. After discarding 95%, even a few turned out recognizable.

First my common Oscar and green terror. The latter still has some growing to do - thinking it's a male, can anyone tell?

Nic and firemouth. No idea if the FM is male or female, not a beauty anyway and now really beaten up as well, which is why I paid for a new tank already last weekend. Looked even worse some days ago.

And the cichlids altogether (can't get any pics of the rest), guess who's the king? They weren't exactly posing.

Firemouths are easy to sex. The top fin is the thing to check (assuming yours hasnt been nibbled). On one sex it is much longer (think its male). Check some sites that sell fish and it will explained

I really like the green terror too (well all my fish lol). Bought him accidentally even - I meant to get a pair of Blue Acaras for my 50 gal but they didn't have any at the shop and said they had no Aequidens at all. Well, I had my mind set on getting fish, so I ended up coming home with the Nic and 4 drab looking baby fish that somehow looked like American cichlids to me (I shall not do such stupid things again). The sales person said they didn't know yet what they were, had been traded in. Not sure if that was true though, took me two hours of surfing the web till I knew. I called the next day if I could give them back but returned only 3 after raising them for some weeks and kept the biggest, most outgoing one, they grew to me.

The firemouth is somewhat nibbled all over currently, so it's hard to tell by that. I used to have a female before which strangely had trailing fins as well after years, just not as long as the male had. What we get here is mostly from Asian stock, by far not looking anymore as the wild ones do. Well, doesn't matter really anyway, I had meant the green terror originally Is my first one.

Well here you go There isn't anything special about the tank - some sand, some wood, some rocks, some anubias. I had lots growing on the background but they died off when we moved house recently. Otherwise, the tank is too small for all those fish meanwhile, lol.
Is there any pic of yours online? I love how every Oscar tank looks different.

I like the background. If you dont mind my asking, where did u get it from and how much $? Or did u make that yourself.
