I'm new to the hobby of 'Oscar'. I have succesfully kept a tank of approx 60 tropical, and am deaply interested in everything people have to say about these fish. My fish are approx 4" and are being housed in a 125 litre, although they are due to be moved to a 240 litre in the new future.

I was inviting any help, advice or suggestions people may wish to give me.

Welcome aboard!
You got one Oscar or is it two of them? Just wondering because of the thread subject.
Lots of good info to find here, and else just shoot the questions and have fun.
If I were a guy, I\'d have probably needed only 30% of the amount of words to say this

Hi, forgot to let yoyu know that it is 2 Albino Tiger Oscar. I have been trying to download a few photos but it keeps telling me that the download size is to big, any ideas as to how I can get them on here !?! Also I have been told that the fish will sulk for a while, laying on the floor, this is concearning me a bit as the fish have been in ther tank for 4 days know and are still a shy. Is this OK or am I doing something wrong !?!

Oh so you got two. Let me be the first one to mention that 240 l will be too small for them both in the long run, would recommend at least 400 l, bigger is better.

About your Oscars, it is normal for them to sulk as you said already, so they might be adjusting still. I assume you cycled your tank before putting the Oscars in there? And are they eating yet? If not, did you remove the uneaten food again?
With them being messy fish, water quality is likely to decrease anyway in a small tank like 125 l, so I'd do regular tests and water changes and make sure ammonia and nitrites are zero, and nitrates not too high. Sorry if you know and do all that anyway already, but thought I'd mention.

If they're just being shy still and everything else is fine, I'd expect them to come around and be more active on their own in some days.

Whoops, forgot about the photos. Many here just upload their photos to photobucket and link to them here. Else if you have no program to resize pics, there are simple freeware ones like Irfanview that make it very easy to do that, should be no more than 400px wide or high I think, and less than 50kb.

Thanks for getting back to me ! I think that I may have got into something out of my depth, and knowledge, but am determined to act on advice so obviously a bigger tank is in the pipeline !!! I have succesfully been raising approx 70 tropical, and my local fish shop have told me that I would need the fish in the tank to breed the filter bacteria !?! The fish were placed in the 125 4 days ago, after 1 day of the tank being set up, again on advice, although I was worried about this. HELP !!!!!

I forgot to say that the filter was kick started by using old filter, from the tropical tank, being squeezed into the filter unit of the 125. There are eating fine, 2 pellets each, twice a day.
