Apparently eBay is to ban negative feedback because it is slowing down sales. For crying out loud, it's nice to know that you are actually buying off genuine reliable people. So you may get somebody who sells to 500 people, 300 of those people are not happy with the sales but they are not able to say anything. I don't think that's fair at all, we should have freedom of speech, eBay are going too far this time in my opinion. All are interested in is making as much money as they can, it seems that they don't give a monkeys about anything else.

I agree completely.
It is a shame.
I recently was bait and switched on Amazon, and I am trying to go through the right channels to correct the problem.
At least I can leave negative feedback on there still.
How much money does eBay need to make? Don't they do millions, if not billions or yearly sales (in their pocket)?

Banning negative feeding back can only be a bad thing for purchasers and a good thing for dodgy sellers. The best solution to this if you are a regular buyer is to contact ebay and tell them you wont buy anything if they stop negative feedback. Hit them where it hurts!
As for ebay wanting to make more money, well they are a commercial organization and making money is what they are there to do. I see nothing wrong with them making more but when its at the expense of ordinary people then that is wrong

As a frequent buyer ans seller on Ebay I would HATE to not be able to leave or have negative feedback if neccesary!
I, not to be "up myself"!!! have 100% possitive feedback as I always pay on time and only send items I describe as to the best of my ability.
I can't believe Ebay is thinking of doing this! Yes, it would increase sales, but to what impact on the buying community???
If I see someone selling an Ipod, who has less than adequate feedback, then I would not buy it! I mean, come one Ebay!!
We should get together a potition for everyone to sign, and then send it on to Ebay!!!

Ok. For those who don't know, I just read the following about this topic!!!
***Changes to the Feedback system***
30 January 2008 | 09:19AM EST
So what are the changes?
Repeat feedback credit – coming in February
Members will receive credit for multiple feedback from the same buyer or seller for purchases made in different calendar weeks (Monday though Sunday).
This is great news for sellers. If you deliver great customer service – and it shows through repeat buyers – your feedback score will reflect this.
Feedback percentage – coming in May
The feedback percentage which calculates a member’s percentage of positive feedback will be based on the last 12 months only (not a member’s lifetime transactions as it is today).
No negative or neutral feedback for buyers - coming in May
Sellers will not be able to leave negative or neutral feedback for buyers. Of course sellers will have the option to not leave any feedback if they feel the buyer has not warranted positive feedback.
We know this is a huge change and it’s important we put appropriate protection in place for sellers so that buyers don’t abuse the system. With this in mind, we're also introducing these changes in May:
All negative and neutral feedback comments will be removed (not just de-scored) when a buyer doesn’t respond to the Unpaid Item Dispute (UPI) process.
All negative and neutral feedback comments left by suspended members will be removed. This will be done retroactively, so all negative and neutral feedback left by suspended members in the past will also be removed.
Buyers will not be able to leave negative or neutral feedback within 3 days of the end of a listing. We expect this will help promote communication between the buyer and seller so they try to resolve their issues before leaving feedback.
The number of days a member can leave feedback by will be reduced from 90 to 60.
Sellers will have an increased block bidder list capacity (up to 5000 User IDs).
These and many other changes were announced today on eBay.com in a “Message from Bill Cobb”.
It is important to note that other changes in the eBay.com announcement are NOT currently scheduled to launch on eBay.com.au.
Regards,
The eBay team

that doesn't sound as bad.
the way it sounded at first, I think, had the possibility of ruining sales in the long term.
I suppose the 12 month record could be a more accurate judge, since, if they are 100% in the last year that is sweet. And also, a seller that had a good run and turned sour doesn't get to rest on its laurels because their percentage won't be affected for some time.
It is also great to try and get people to communicate first.
Overall, sounds good. Though it could have been really bad the other way

i hate people that cheat lie and try and sell stuff thats rubbish so neg feedback is great coz it gives you an early warning on which kind of seller u r dealing with.
