I'm posting this in honor of my idiot boyfriend who lost one of our cockateils today. I've told him numerous times NOT to take the birds outside, because they're relatively new to our household and flip out over everything, so I knew they'd fly off. We clipped their wings today, but the female can still fly, just not as fast, or as far. Poor thing took off and went to the neighbor's yard about 300yds from the house and was last seen in a very tall pine tree. Did Mr. Moron try to find the bird?? Nooooooooo! He of course claims he did, but I know how he looks for things. Effort is a bad word to him. So here it is almost 12:30am, about 50º outside, and my poor bird is out there somewhere. I hope she comes home tomorrow and doesn't become a snack for a raccoon in the mean time.

I have to add that I was at work all night when this occurred, so I couldn't even help look for her.

Remind me again......why do we have them around? I have forgotten......at least the fish don't let us down....

So sorry Jenni... I hope she comes home safe and sound.

And I agree with Sharyn. Why do we have them??? Pets are SO much better!

I got a similar story of stupidness, but not within my relationship, but with a friend.
He got kicked out of his house by his wife and asked if he could stay at my place.
I told him he could, and explained the simple rules we have in our home:
Rule Nr 1: Take care you don't bother eachother in a negative way.
Rule Nr 2: Keep the doors locked at ALL times to make sure the dog does not walk out of the house.

My dog is kinda stupid and crosses the road whenever he likes, without paying notice to anything around him.
Next morning i wake up to someone banging on the front door.
It was one of the neighbours boys, telling me that my dog is wandering aimlessly through the block, and had been doing so since 5AM....
My friend left the door open and the dog had escaped when he went to work.

Mind you my friend had to look for another place to stay.
Hope your friend is still allowed to stay, though...

I have to say that when he does have a job, he pays the bills. But like Nicki said, I can (and maybe I should) pay the bills myself.

At any rate, the morons found the bird a little bit ago. It only took them 2 hours, getting completely filthy muddy (then asking me what they should do about being dirty - for real?!) and telling the story like it's a major accomplishment. Some days I really do think I'd be better off alone.
