just thought it would be interesting to hear what we all do for a living????
and what sort of cross section of trades/professions we have ????please add your jobs to the thread...

Im a dustman, for several reasons,
1 - the money is good
2 - the hours are amazing
3 - i get to spend alot more time at home with my kids and misses
4 - working outdoors in the summer is so good.

im contracted to work 6:00am till 2:30pm monday to friday
but i work 6:30am till 10:00am and get full pay till 2:30pm
and if i work saturdays which i do most of the time, i start at 6:30 and im back home by 9:30 and get about 120 pound for it.

i normally work monday to saturday and clear £1600 per month.

throughout my life ive done a few different things. i started building when i was a youngster with my dad and opened my own construction company just before i got married. not liking the 14 hours days in the summer and off in the winter i switched to my main love which is cars. i finished my apprenticeship in auto mechanics and did that for about 5 years. then i decided to try something different and went to college and got a degree in minning engineering but when i applied to work for the major mining company here they wanted me to not to work in planning and development but underground in the mechanics shop(go figure) so i refuse the position and now am working again in the automotive industry.

i am a jack of all trade, master of none....
started working at the age of 9 in the farm as farmboy;
fisherman at 12 to 15 (fishpond); and farmer again until
17 sugarcane field. from 18 onward, i tried city life as
construction worker- masonry, plumbing, and welder, carpenter.
enrolled in college while working as dish washer in a hotel. i
climb the ladder to become cook, F&B auditor, warehouse supvisor,
then engineering apprenticeship as machine room tender. while working
and studying,got married and had three kid (all grown up now).became
licence mechanical engineer in 1987 and work as: purchasing officer;
project engineer (metal works); and eventually Property Manager.
althroughout, my fashion in farming, fishing,and carpentry never leave me.
in my free time, i manage to take crash course in auto-mechanic, computer,
and tailoring.

Presently, i am managing a 31 storey building with 114 offices, having a lot
of time interacting with you people from 9 am to 5 pm. however, i still work
unpaid as family driver to my wife and to my two daughters early in the morning and after 5 pm

Hi, I'm the manager of a Day Nursery (including baby unit), pre-School and After-school club... it is long hours and very hard work but it is well worth while and it is very relaxing to come home after a long day and watch the fishes! I'm also studying for a degree in education studies specializing in early childhood

hey guys

im currently a uni student, at melb university. studying science with a major in marine biology and zoology

just in the middle of a 2 week summer cousre. been snorkelling in reefs and observing fish, invertabrates and noting down morphological features, feeding habits etc.

its been very interesting!

Well at present i am a HVAC installer

unemployed after 25 years with the company got my pink slip on a monday morning,, So i geuss im a bum enjoy life
