since i live a little town here in northern ontario(only about 200,000 people) we were limited on lfs. sadly we only had a petsmart and one independent store. since i had a disagreement with the lsf on dyed fish and refused to shop there again i was at a loss for less common fish to purchase. but to my amazement a new fish store opened and not only is it strickly for fish, the owner has no problem ordering fish for his clients. to make a long story short i just placed my order for a female red tiger mota. it should be about a month before the order is placed and received but it is on its way soon.

io can hardly wait for the end of april...

it will be a sub adult when in get it(old enough to sex) i order a wild caught but might have to settle for an f-1 or worse case senerio an f-2.

i fell in love with the colour of the females. i really find them quite stunning and since im starting to gather a few aggresive fish i decided to give them go and see how they get on with my 2 oscars, green terror, salvini and jag in my 220.

too bad for the lfs who sell dyed fishes, they lost one good client.

i can see alot of ordering fish but only when i need to replace one. im limited to 585 gallons in total tanks and i have no room for any more tanks. now when replacing im going to looking for wild caught, f-1's,or f-2's as replacements.

so i stopped in to my lfs today to see how my rtm was comming along and found out that he is still in the searching phase of the order. so not to be to bummed out i increased my order to include an f1-f2 freddy(Parachromis friedrichsthalli) and a true green terror(Aequidens rivulatus).
no to wait and see what comes in first....

on a side note while i was in the store today i did pick up a juvenile texas cichlid to complete my stocking of the 220. i will post pics after he settles into his new home.

We too need options, I will not buy form Petco as the fish there are more often dead that alive. Petsmart is ok, we had a great local store but she got into a car accident and is now in a wheelchair. So she closed up shop:( Hopefully someone will open one soon!

being in the u.s. your option are a lot more open than mine here in canada. all youneed to do is get your fish shipped to you from rapps or ken davies and you can have the quality fish i have a prob finding here at a reasonable price.
