In the last few weeks I've had my fair share of computer problems. Most of these problems were due to viruses/Trojans. Also, my previous virus program caused problems with my Registry. To cut a long story short I lost everything off my primary computer which was pretty devastating. Anyway, I'm over that now and have got everything running really well. I've invested in new virus software and scan my computer on a regular basis. Now I don't claim to be an expert on viruses, Trojans etc, however I do know they can completely balls things up if you are unlucky enough to cop a nasty one. Now for those of you who you may have heard of the word "Trojan" but don't know what it is. Basically, it is often a malicious piece of code that has been disguised as something else, often something quite legitimate. Once it gets into your computer it can cause havoc.
Now I know that the majority of you have virus protection. A lot of you use the free programs like avg, Avest etc. These programmes will only give you limited protection. Yes they will protect you against virus but they don't protect you against spyware and Trojan. Remember it is free, there are going to be a lot of limitations on free software. Viruses are one thing, Trojans another, they can be just as bad, even worse sometimes. I have included a link here which I would strongly recommend everyone to run on their computer. It's completely free so don't worry. This is actually one piece of software that I would recommend everyone to have loaded on their computer and to scan the computer at least once a week. I think some of you may be surprised at how much malicious objects it finds.
A lot of spyware causes no problems, it is designed this way. Key logging software can often run on your computer registering every keystroke you make and continues to send reports to criminal organisations. So if you are using a credit card on a regular basis, it's quite possible that this information is not as safe as you may think. Free software should not be relied on entirely. If you do a lot of Internet shopping using credit cards, I would strongly urge you to invest in paid Internet security protection. I wouldn't recommend Norton or Mcfee, they slow your computer up and can cause problems in the Registry. I am actually using a company called Kapersky and I'm actually very happy with it.
