Cool, that rocks. Only like 50 members have hung around more than one post though, and only 30 still do...I bet some regularly visit the site but don't bother posting in the forum.

When you get a few minutes, do a search and have a look at some of the fish forums. If you look at the bottom, it normally tells you how many members that particular site has got. Then have a look how many members are actually active at any one particular time. It's probably better to do it in an evening when everybody is back from work. Nine times out of 10, the amount of people active considerably less than the actual membership. One particular website which I won't mention has between 10 and 20,000 members. I've noticed lately that the active members are very little indeed. Now compare that to oscarfishlover.com. I haven't actually worked out how many members are active, but we probably do better than most if you actually work a few figures out. Okay, we may only have 500 members, but 20 active members in 500, is certainly better than 30 active members in 15,000.

When I put this website together initially. I only added the forum in case people couldn't find the answers they want. I'm actually really happy that people are joining and participating. I would like to think that a lot of our members get the answers they need so don't bother joining up to ask questions.

However, some people just like joining forums for the sake of it, they never bother posting.

I'm a member myself of several other big fish forums, including:

Cichlid-Forum
MFK
WaterWolves
Nanfa
BlueJax
and
Ultimate Bettas

However, this and cichlid-forum are the only forums i regularly visit.

You should see WW and MFK. They have a lot of active members compared to the amount of members altogether. Cichlid-Forum has more members than both of them, but doesn't have as many active members...

I think we're doing quite well for a website that only been running for seven months. I'd like to think that in five years, we will still be running with lots of active members. The fact that we really deal with just the one fish will obviously make a difference to how many people we have as members. Most of the other websites deal with hundreds of fish rather than just one. My aim is to put the ultimate amount of Oscar Fish information possible on this website. I wished I had made videos of my breeding pair but I didn't. With the benefit of hindsight, I could have had loads of information on here at the moment. We'll just have to wait till my guys mature. And hopefully I'll get a breeding pair which we can have lots of really good footage. In the meantime, you have to buy Steve DVD I bought myself a really good digital video camera a few months ago, so I am looking forward to using that a bit more

What species of Oscar did you take pictures of?
