Sins...Do you know anything about parrott cichlids? A lady called me yesterday and wanted to come and check out my O's and Silver Dollors.I won't sell her an O with a 30 gal. but I might consider a S.Dollor or two.

what you should tell her is with a 30 gallon tank she should look into dwarf cichlids like rams, apistos and so on

Thanks Necro... I just found some info on them, Don't quite know what she has but it may be the hybrids. She stated that they layed eggs but no fry. It also said something about deformed mouths, so don't put them with aggresive fish. I don't think the tank is big enough for these parotts and others.I'll check it out, thanks

parrots grow large enough that a 30 will be to small for them. i have a freind who has parrots and they are about 6 inches in lenght and almost the same in height. i beleive that a 55 gallon is recommended for 2 parrots.

Mine are only about 3-4 inches and nowhere near that tall. To be honest I'd tell anybody that wanted to buy some not to. If people would stop buying them maybe they'd stop breeding the poor deformed things. They can't eat pellets because their mouths are too low and deformed, they barely eat flakes but only if there's a big piece they can take a bite off of. Watching them try to eat is like a lesson in how to torture a fish. Mine are not as shy as they were when I first rescued them but sudden movements, loud music..anything out of the norm makes them hyper. I guess the hybrid breeds are ok it they're not deformed like this, why anybody would do this to a animal is beyond me. Others might disagree with me but I strongly believe this is wrong. If it was my friend I'd try to talk her into a mild mannered colorful fish, discus if she wants to go to the trouble, golden sevs are beautiful, Jewels are beautiful and don't get very big. I'll stop ranting now

I'm sorry for the rant Medic, I saw your post right after feeding the fish and was already mad about how hard it is for them to eat.
