you people are going to get sick of me ...
but yes i have another problem and need answers

the other day i noticed what look to be minute white worms crawling on the inside of the glass.

yesterday i spent the whole day doing a 100% water change and even removed the gravel, stones and rocks and scrubbed them and the tank

now onlylike 30 hours later and they are back

i only noticed them because i am sitting in the dark and the tank light is the only light on, at first i thought they were specks of dust, but they are definitely crawling on the glass .... almost like microscopic lava of some kind

any ideas??

it sounds like planeria,

its nothing to worry about but it is unsightly. generally it is caused by overrfeeding and can be eliminated by reducing the amout of food and wiping the glass to get them of. generally it takes about 5 days to clear just be patient. also remember to fast them for one day a week.

fish in general have long digestive tracts. the idea behind fasting is to give some time for it to empty. remember in the wild fish dont eat every day.

actually if you research the subject you will find that for mature oscars most only fishkeepers only feed every second day.

i see
yes i guess i have been feeding him a fair bit lately ...
but he seems to want it ... whenever i walk past or stop to say hello ... he swims to the surface as if looking for food.
as for the fasting .... ok i was not aware of that, so i am supposed to not feed him one day a week ... is that right?

i just thought that his appetite was increasing with his very noticeable growth spurt ... in a matter of about 1 month he has gone from like 5 inches to now what appears to be about 7 inches lol

so these things will eventually disappear if i cut back on the feeding?

your right on both counts.
one day a week dont feed. and for the planeria reduce the amount you feed and keep the glass clean and it will clear.

thx Necro

you have relieved my mind ...
i was thinking maybe i had a major problem

mostly when i feed him ... what he hasnt eaten after 5 minutes i usually remove.
i was actually starting to think it was coming from the new filtration system as i had never noticed it before i got it

Oscars are like Labs. They don't just eat until they are full, they eat till it's gone. You have to say no to keep them healthy.
