my buddy adam was deployed to afghanistan, and they didnt give him any personal body armor. he had to get his parents to buy some from an armored car service company here stateside, loomis fargo, and then ship it to him... then after wearing it for a couple weeks somebody took notice it wasnt USGI issued, and hooked him up with a real military vest with the ceramic plates in it.

for being as advanced as our military is, they are forgetting a few basics here and there... like kevlar... its fucked. soon tho they say they are going to start issuing out that shit they call dragonskin... hopefully that will save some lives.

the regular stuff they are issuing tho, it does work. my other buddy kenny dooley took 2 shots in the chest from an ak47, on two different occasions, and the vest saved his life both times thanks to the ceramic plate in the front, he didnt get sent home till he got stabbed in the back by an insurgent armed with a knife. dudes one of those high speed low drag bad mother f***ers taking shots gettin it done. Fucking Heros, we need more of them.

My brother is in the 82nd Airborne serving his second tour in Iraq right now. When he was first deployed he didn't have any body armor either. My mother was going to buy him the Dragon Skin armor, Chris asked his CO if he could wear the Dragon Skin on patrol, and then lo and behold he suddenly got his own armor!

I friggin hate the way our military and our government is run. I didn't vote for the joke that's in the office right now, and I didn't vote for the douche bags that were in for the previous 8 years.
