Haha...I would love a snake but my wife says she'd kill me if I brought one into the house!

I have a bunch of snakes and have fed them on occasion towards the end of the shed, I dont know if you live feed or not, but if you do, then i'd recomend snuffing the rat first, if your snake is having trouble seeing, it can still smell its way to the dead rat, but if its live and bites your snake your in for a world of hassle, I had one python get bitten by a rat, the end result was I had to give it 5 or 6 antibiotic shots, which is a real pain in the butt if your python is 9ft long!
I have since taken to feeding all snakes either fresh kill or frozen.
Some snakes will only eat live food, for these I have found that if you stun the rat [or mouse] with a cattle prod, the snake will still eat it because they arent dead and still have a pulse so they figure they'r alive and still eat em'.

The reason he needs a licence is that here in Aust you have to have a reptile permit before youre alowed to keep any snakes, class 1 and 2 for pythons and then you need a different permit for venomous stuff like death adders etc....
I'd love a boa but the punishment if your caught with one in this country just aint worth it, although I know a guy with a Burmese python & Diamond rattler [both highly illegal here] he's just lucky he hasn't been caught yet!
