A tiger has mauled several people killing one at a zoo in San Francisco. Apparently this isn't the first time it has attacked. However, it managed to get out of its enclosure, nobody knows how just at the moment.

I can imagine that the zoo's insurance company are more than worried at the moment. They are going to get sued for millions

Unfortunately, this is what can happen sometimes you keep wild animals in enclosed spaces. They should be a wild ideally, not just kept in cages for our amusement

Shocking!

For some wild animal species the zoos and their breeding programs are kind of the last ressort to keep them from extinction (sp.), and I wouldn't generally say zoos are bad as long as the animals can live similar to how they would live in the wild under the limited circumstances, but I sure expect a zoo to be a safe place.

Tigers a very beautiful and very dangerous animals and I try to keep teaching the kids that tigers or whatever wild animals are not "cuddly" or would like to be petted.
If I were a guy, I\'d have probably needed only 30% of the amount of words to say this

Yes, I was going to mention that in many cases, many zoos have breeding programmes so keeping wild animals is essential. However, if it wasn't human beings, we wouldn't need to do all this.. The tiger is an endangered animal because it was almost hunted to extinction. The same goes with many hundreds of other animals.

And the really really sad thing is, I don't think it's going to be very long before many animals only exist in zoos. The Tasmanian tiger is one very good example. There's still footage that shows the last remaining tiger in captivity.

I think the human race has got a lot to answer for, and it's still happening out there, endangered animals just being shot for the fun of it.

For Christ's sake Penn, get off your soapbox and finish off your champagne (yes, drinking champagne at the moment)

I saw that in the paper. Several years ago my brothers were at that cafe at that zoo. I remember it because they got a $4 hotdog stolen by a seagull:lol:

The same thing happened here a few years ago. This guy who had mental problems climbed into a lion's enclosure. Somebody actually had their video camera and filmed it as it happened. The first time they showed on the news, you saw the lion bite into this guy's leg and you saw all the blood pouring out, the news station obviously realised this wasn't good viewing so they cut that particular bit. The guy actually survived, don't think his leg was in such a good state though.

If you ever came to Brixham, the town where I live, you would see millions of seagulls. The seagulls of cheeky little buggers, they actually steal food out of people's hands if they are not careful. This little girl was sitting there one day licking on an ice cream and a seagull actually flew past and pinched the whole cornet out at the hands, it was so funny.

And if they are not stealing your food, they are shiting on you.
