anybody use Firefox?I have only just started using it in the last week because Internet Explorer keeps doing weird things. Anyway, for the life of me, I can't find out how to play something on desktop in Firefox. It was easy in Internet Explorer, you just went to file/send to/desktop. it's stupid, I just can't find out how to do it in Mozilla Firefox

to be perfectly honest, I really don't like Firefox. It doesn't work properly with Dragon NaturallySpeaking and does weird things on the forum.

I use Firefox. I have to say I absolutely love it. It seems safer than IE, and with all those useful plugins available, it makes life really easier for me. Think I have like 30 plugins installed, only thing is it takes a while to load then.

I'm not really sure if I understand what you want to do about playing files on desktop ... well I kinda do but never used it in IE neither I think. You mean like you could i.e. like you click a video to make it play on your desktop instead of in the browser, or how? Sorry, lol.

That about your speech recognition software is crap of course, gotta be a PITA using Firefox then.

What it messes up for me is displaying the read and unread posts correctly, but I wasn't sure if that's due to using Firefox.

Oh, I found out what you meant, sorry. Well with using a mouse, it just works with drag and drop in Firefox, like you drag a pic onto your desktop. I have no idea how that would work for you though:unsure:

it is a well-known problem that Dragon doesn't work very well with Mozilla Firefox. Apparently supposed to, it just doesn't work as well as it does on Internet Explorer.

so if you want to put a website on your desktop, how do you go about doing it?

Oh, a whole website, I thought you meant media like pics or videos. For a whole website, I just save it, should be something like File -> Save page as (sorry, mine is in German lol). Then just giving the destination folder as Desktop in this case. For me, it suggests the last folder I saved something into. Might be a tad more complicated than with IE. You can then choose if saving the complete page or only parts of it.
If you want only the Link on your desktop, that is that drag and drop thing again, copying the icon in the url field to your desktop (and again no idea how you'd do that).

For downloading pics for example, there is a great plugin that can save like all pics on a page at once without you having to mark each of them.

Well but doesn't help if your software won't work with it properly.

actually, I worked it out. it is slightly different to Internet Explorer where you just click "send to" and then choose desktop.

Well still good we talked about it ... I hadn't found out about that thing about just dragging a link to my desktop although I have been using Firefox for years already. So after you asked now, I now have the OFL.com link on my desktop finally

Oh tell me about it, for some things I have saved I can't really remember what it is anymore, but hey, it might be I need it exactly tomorrow if I delete it today.

And don't worry, there seem to be other people having the same problem:

I use safari an I'm on a macintosh, and i love it. Very cool looking, and easy to use with lots of things you can do. I also use firefox on occassion, because it seems to be a tad bit quicker.

follow the link below, there is a WMV movie at the bottom of the page. it won't play when using Firefox on my computer. Its keeps asking me to install a plug-in but then informs me that it is not available. Anybody else having problems?

Yes, same here. I can neither watch the videos in the videos section, always use IE for that. Think it's supposed to work if copying some file from somewhere else into the firefox plugins folder or so, provided sun-java is installed, but I haven't bothered to try yet.

Just found this about the MIME-type settings on the server, maybe helps:

Or this one, which is about the object code:
