I thought I would start a thread where all 2010 World Cup related posts can be made so everything is in one place. Until the tournament is over I'm going to make this a sticky so it always stays at the top.

I am really looking forward to the tournament Which starts tonight. Got some beers in for tomorrow's game between England and the USA.

By the way, I am predicting Brazil are going to win again. However, I'm predicting either Brazil, Portugal, Spain or France being in the final. Let's see if I'm right in six weeks time

I am just watching Jonathan Ross. Of course he mention the World Cup when he first came on. He made me laugh when he mentioned we were playing the USA tomorrow, he said "we invented football, we also invented the USA" I thought that was very funny

Well, I suppose that's kinda true...although not by choice, though.

So is the World Cup not really an issue in the USA?

I am surprised, women's football in the USA is very very popular, so much more than in the UK. There must be some people over there who like it, David Beckham wouldn't be paid as much as he is otherwise

Soccer isn't watched very much in the US until the World Cup. Many US sports fans will be tuning in or atleast looking for the highlights on sportcenter. The National Football League is the most popular sport over here. Right now we are watching the National Basketball Association championships and some major league baseball.

When it comes to soccer, it not one of the top sports here. But some of the high schools have competitive soccer, although mine didn't. Sometimes its hard to believe we can put up a competitive team with the lack of popularity in the USA.

As far as women's futball, I have never heard of it and will not watch it. Unless that is what you call something else as a joke.

Either way I will be tuning in for the USA vs England Soccer game. Good luck to all.
