well, we've got Germany next. I can't exactly say I feel very easy about that. But hey, if they continue to play as well as they did today, there is every chance we will keep going further, Germany didn't exactly rock the boat against Ghana

Slovakia have given Italy a bit of a pasting and Italy are out. At least that gives everyone else a chance if the champions are no longer in the competition

I almost had a heart attack yesterday morning during the USA-Algeria game (came on at 630am here is southern california) when the refs disallowed another GOOD goal. I swear USA is going to have to fight twice as hard as everyone else!! We looked good and the score should have been alot greater than it was. We did finish first in our group , we are going to win this year or atleast do better than England. I normally do not watch football(or soccer where i live) but i have found myself captivated by the World Cup.
GO TEAM USA

looks like they stole a goal from Italy today too. I guess thats just how soccer is officiated overseas. In America we use Instant Reply to some extent in most of our sports, thus being much more accurate overall on referee calls. Refs shouldn't be able to decide the fate of a Country.

I have merged this thread with the official World Cup thread, I want to keep everything together regarding the World Cup.
I don't think it's just the USA game, there have been some very questionable decisions by the referees in the World Cup so far. We've had a couple of goals that had been disallowed when they shouldn't have been, we have had people offside and haven't been spotted. And then there is the yellow cards that have been dished out for no reason at all.
However, what really pisses me off it is all the simulation that has been going on, people holding their faces and falling to the ground when they've had a nothing more than an elbow in the ribs that wouldn't hurt a fly. As far as I'm concerned these players should be punished severely and given a couple of match bans.
The USA did well to get through but they would have a very very hard job beating us if we continue to play as well as we did yesterday.

USA Soccer has been getting better and better through the years.
It seems that it would be a very difficult day for the people of England to realize that American Soccer has surpassed England Soccer... since England invented the sport and all. I am not saying that day is here, I am just saying it sounds like that would be a difficult day for some of you.
