If you live in the USA, then you are probably very aware of the current news topics regarding Arizona and illegal immigrants. There are news stories saying that our rules to become a citizen in this country are too strict. It is also widely known that we do not deport illegals back to their country as we should be. In the USA, the illegals are getting food, health insurance, housing, clothing, jobs and money from our government without them becoming citizens. My boyfriend is willing to PAY for health insurance but has been repeatedly denied because he has allergies and gastric reflux disease. We have used a large chunk of our savings to pay his medical bills and medications.
Since this forum reaches out to so many people in so many different countries... I pose these questions...
Does your country have a problem with illegal immigrants?
How does your government deal with them?

P.S. I'm considering moving to Arizona !!

Ha... I'm replying to my own post! But I forgot something...
I hate that I have to press 1 for english or 2 for spanish. They are catering to all the people crossing the mexican border illegally. If you are to become an American citizen, you should be required to speak english - therefore I do not have to choose which language I want.
At my job, I could make $1.25 more an hour if I spoke fluent Spanish!!! So that I can talk to these people who are here illegally. Something about that just rubs me the wrong way!!!

I have got absolutely nothing against people from other countries coming to the UK. However, I will only accept them if they are willing to work and pay their taxes like any UK citizen. The problem is, people look upon us as an easy touch so they all want to get here. The fact that they have to come through France to get to the UK in most cases proves my point.
Many of them seek asylum here and use any excuse they can to stop us deporting them back to their country. I'm sorry, I have got absolutely no time for anyone coming to this country who is not prepared to do their bit. It's not right when some UK people struggle to get housing and money and some guy from the other side of the world gets given everything, a house, money, health care and God knows what else.
Some people may well say that foreigners are taking our jobs. However, some UK people are really lazy and won't do all the shitty jobs, so why not give them to people who are willing to work?

My brother in law got sent back to his homecountry, Turkey, for he couldn't prove that he was in real danger over there.
But he married my sister in law and now lives in Holland.
Now that he has a social security number, he's obliged to have an insurance.
Insurance companies in Holland can't refuse you, for it's prohibited by law not to be insured.
If you have a low income, the government will give you a discount on the monthly premium. This only counts for basic insurance, though, so with no extras.
But this is one of the good things of my country.
If you get sick, you will be helped for sure.
the habituation study the immigrants have to do is very tough, nowadays.
Some of those questions were even hard to answer for me.

illegal imigration really isnt that big of a concern here. im sure it happens but its not as rampant as it is in the states. this probably has to do with the fact that there are no impoverished nation that border my country nor is there any real easy access to it.
as for heath care imho we have an excellent system where no one is ever refused treatment or care. of course all this is paid for by tax dollars and lord knows we are heavily taxed but its seems to work....

In my country that let them all in, give them social security cards, free healthcare, free welfare money and food, unemployment insurance, and free education. Gotta love it.

Ive noticed that they handle immigrants in a strange fashion, they give them businesses to run, where we get over charged for a box of cheese-it crackers..

x2. people coming to the uk, or any country and seeking asylum but then going on to commit crime really makes me angry. if they worked and became good honest citizens i would have no problem.

You know, I don't have a problem if people want to come to this country because where they lived was horrible. The US has a lot to offer people and can seem like heaven to people who have horrible living conditions. BUT... do it legally, don't sneak into our borders and live in a one bedroom house with 25 other people and take all the free stuff we off our citizens and then take our jobs. There are ways to do it legally and we open our borders to those willing to follow the laws. Contribute to society, pay your taxes and you are welcome to stay!
I worked in a restaurant as a manager that had 6 cooks. 3 were illegals willing to work for $6 an hour - 50-60 hours a week. Granted the business saved a ton of money, paying them under the table, no taxes etc. But that is 3 jobs that could have been given to legal citizens paying them $11 an hour. I turned away dozens and dozens of applicants because the owner had these illegals working for them (fake green cards). These were people desperate to work, out of work for months. Very sad.
Eventually I couldn't be involved with it anymore and quit - then turned them into the State. Currently there are no more illegals working there and the State audits them quarterly. Plus they had a hefty fine to pay!
