Just got him/her home today, still settling in. Need to get a digital thermometer and hidrometer instead of the circle ones, a thermostat and a larger enclosure.

Python regius ( ball python, royal python ), not a baby at 500 grams, probably more than 6 months old ( ? still new at this ).

nice , I had a Green iguana some years back,, got just shy of 6ft nose to tail tip before he passed at a little after 6 years. We lost power for 2 and a half weeks after an ice storm and cuold not keep his enclosure warm enough.

Sorry to hear that. I did think about iguana, but they get so huge ... I am thinking of getting an Bearded Dragon to cap the "home zoo" lol, but will see how all goes for a few months with the current pets i have.

That's what i want one, because the don't care about anything, so laid back. But maintaining the big tank, the cats and now the snake might be a tad to much, will just have to wait and see how i can handle all of them and then decide.

I think that is a smart decision on your part, reptiles like fish need a large habitat to be happy and keeping them sanitary. Sal salmonella is a big problem with reptiles so be careful where you get them.

Yep, i'm having it tested at two different vets ( one recommended by the pet store in te contract, and one at the zoo, third one on the roll if they are incompetents but it's a 3 hours drive away ). Some sites claim they can't be treated, some do ... will just have to see.

Nice pics :)
I used to have a python years ago but the heat pad stopped working one winter and he was too far gone before I realised what had happened :(

Heating pads and rocks are not the way to go for reptiles, at least lizards could be wrong about snakes. they should be heated from above. like in the wild. I have known folks who,s lizards killed them selves on heating rocks, over heated there tummies. Moe had a basking log. he loved that log, literally. i had to clean every so often!.

The enclosure also had heat globes in it but I just blamed the faulty rock because he was curled up on it when I found him. Ah well too late now, that was a long time ago.
