What do we all think about swearing in posts?

I personally think that swearing shouldnt be allowed. However swearing with letter changes is ok with me, example F***ing or s**t.

If swearing is banned it can be edited out, but persistant offenders would need to be barred from OFL

i wouldnt mind mild swearing if it's used in humor or to show a passion.

i work in an automotive repair shop, so it is usually in the daily vocabulary.
but if there were to be a rule against it, i will comply, no problem. i could see how it could be a problem if the F word were all over the place.
maybe "TV" rules. like damn is acceptable but S*** and F*** aren't?

This is something I have been pondering today. Unfortunately the forum doesn't have the facility to ban certain words, unlike other forum software. Whereas I don't want to go overboard with censorship like other forums, I feel that unnecessary swearing should be avoided. If I am with my mates, I will often chuck in a few few swear words if we are having a laugh or a chat about something, but I know how far I can go with people I know. You never really know who is using the forum so I think we better bear that in mind. We have got an awesome reputation on the web, I wouldn't like to gain a reputation for constant swearing in posts.

from the time i joined the community, only few times i have seen a full word
swearing. most of the time, those bad words are implied. if swearing is done,
as had been said, in spontaneous interaction, i believe there is nothing
wrong with that. however, if swearing is directed to particular person in
a derogatory manner, and/or in CAPITALS, then it will be a moderator's concern.

we are all grown up (with a few young members of course), thus, implied swearing
can be tolerated.

I just think there are bigger things to worry about than an occasional swear word!

point taken. im the worst, i curse like a sailor, everybody i know does, its just something we ignorant rednecks like to do. ill watch my mouth from now on. sorry all.

I am surrounded by swearing folks all day at work, but I try to keep my tongue under control, for it is a small member but can set the wheels of hell afire.
With the same tongue we bless and curse at the same time.
But typing builds in a extra pause, and it's easier to control your language.
I like the unspoken rule of not swearing on the forum.
But I am not offended either by some F's and S's!

i try to remember to keep it clean and always proof read what i type, i was in the navy and i can say swearing is not an offensive thing to me but still i try to keep it in check.

when i joined a movement for couples, one of our moderator shepherd told us,
words can blessed and can damned a person and once you have said the bad words,
it is very hard to retrieved. from that time on, whenever i feel bad and want
to say some bad words, i just shout with a weird sound like a turkey sound
just to release the anger. after that, i can smile again without hurting anyone.
until now, i am practicing that with my kids.... that is why i am so proud
that all my kids never had bad mouthed each other.
