I apologize for making this my first post in your forum but time is a bit of an issue here.

I am soliciting your opinion on this tank and have a couple of questions about it.

springfieldil.craigslist.org/for/1837934749.html

First question obviously, do you think his price is good?

Second question, do you think it would support a pair of O's, with no other fish and using a Fluval FX5?

I am from the UK and going by the exchange rate it sounds like a great deal especially with the stand included.

60x18x26 does'nt just quite reach 118.5 us gallons and that is all........ the way to the top of the tank and its widest and longest parts.

The tank will be a lot less than that plus your sustrate and decor.

But is sounds like a good deal to me.

Just check the thing before you fill it in the house. I was told this by a good member. lol

Thanks Jamie.

I would definitely check it out before I moved it into the house. Even 118.5 gallons of water on the floor, as opposed to the claimed 120, would probably still be enough to irritate my wife.

Enough of a tank for 2 Os or would it be better to just have 1?

55 gallons minimum per full grown Oscar. Some say 75 and I dont know if that is us. or imperial, I think the later though.

Your tank in imperial is just over 101 imperial a bit small for two fully grown fish. Filtration will be a factor probe.

By the way welcome friend. Any questions feel free... Call me Jamie....

$225 for a 5 year old tank seems a lot to me for a tank that cost $400 new. The stand is pratical but doesnt look pretty so you may want to get/make another one so the stand is valueless. If thats the case then I would say its too expensive even in you if you get it for £200.

I agree. The stand is ugly and I probably wouldn't use it. OTOH, I called the LFS for a quote on a 120 gallon tank -- $609.99. Based on that, the CL price seems pretty good. However, the same shop quoted me $259.99 for a 90 gal tank a week or two abo. Something seems amiss there.

It is always far cheaper to buy a 2nd hand tank... And Craigslist is usually the best way to do that!!! I would buy that tank... Without question!

It is a good price if a new one is $600 plus. The thing with fish tanks is to compare like with like. Dont just compare the capacity, its the dimensions that matter. The deeper the tank, the more expensive it becomes because the deeper the tank the thicker the glass needs to be. So a 4x2x2 (length x width x height) tank will be a lot more expensive that a 8x2x1 tank. My 180g is 2ft deep, to make it 2.5ft deep doubled the price!!!!!

Since you guys were so helpful I thought I better follow up in case you are interested.

I did not buy the tank. I am just not sure I am comfortable buying a used tank. In fact, I haven't bought any tank yet. However, today, I did order the filter (Fluval FX5). How weird do you have to be to buy a filter before you buy a tank?
