so i want some driftwood instead of my fake one but the only driftwood at my LFS is in the reptile Section should i get it and i was thinking about boiling the wood before putting it in am i doing it right and what do yall think MATT OUT----------------------------------------------------------------

The reptile driftwood is the same as aquatic driftwood. As far as boiling goes, if you don't mind your water turning yellowish (or "tea colored" as some have described), don't worry about boiling it.

As far as I am concerned, I kinda of like the yellowish tint. It makes my tank look more like a natural river color. The color is not harmful to the fish, it's cause by tannins released from the driftwood.

Your call, it's a personal preference.

The tannins will not harm your fish. But keep in mind it takes a very long time to get the water clear if the wood is leaking it for a long time...wont look to nice

the usual wood you buy at the LFS will have been used in tanks before,thus often not leaking anymore.
But i still prefer to crub, rinse and boil the wood if i can find a pan to fit it in...

Onthe other hand, any ornaments, be it wood or otherwise, will decrease your tanks watervolume.
And imo you need all the volume of water for your fish at this moment.

Well in case you missed it, ANY DECOR IN THE TANK DISPLACES WATER!!!!!!! This means in your ALREADY too small tank there is LESS water!!! Matt come on... Rehome or stop the nonsense..

You need to remove EVERYTHING from your tank. It is not big enough for just your Oscar alone... Matt you are going to kill these fish you claim to love so much!

Can you please tell me when was your last water change? And what are your water readings RIGHT NOW?
