hey guys just got my 55gal i bought one bag of black sand put it in washed of course but theres not enough and iv already filled my tank...i got excited.... is there anyway to add sand without drainning my tank to me it dosent seem like a good idea to just dump another bag or two in there any ideas???

You can add sand to a tank that has already got water in it, just make sure you turn your filter off when you are putting it in. Obviously your water will probably go quite discoloured, but don't worry, it will clear. Try not to leave your filter for any more than one hour, make sure the media does not dry out at any stage.

i aggree with OFL, turn your filters off

Then put the sand into a container and gentle lower the container to the bottom and slowly turn the container over to place the sand on the bottom, this way you will minimise any floating dust and cloudiness

i did a full substrate change with my O still swimming around
left my filter going i just was carefull to not put my black sand to close to the filter intake untill i was done filling with substrate then just lifter intake and
pushed sand into place but i used a 2ltr jug works a charm my water was a lil cloudy for 10-15 mins max =] my O would not leave me alone whilst doing the change
