Hello all,
Here's some photos (I'll post a few messages w/ photos coming) showing the new 75 Gallon (US) Aquarium I have set up for my two Tiger Oscars, Jake and Elvira. The Tank is not yet cycled so the Oscars will remain in a smaller tank for the time being. Today I finished up the decor etc and placed the 3 Cory's inside to help speed the cycle process up. It was also seeded with alot of good gravel but some gravel was removed today. I only am keeping a very light layer of gravel as I want an "easy to clean" tank. Even the plants are potted for easy moving and deeply rooted at that to prevent them being easily disturbed by the fish. The hood is an all in one hood, flourescent light (2 bulbs) and 4 Bio-Wheel filter rated at 600 GPH. Thus far I am happy with it and it does allow quick access or removal too. Inside I placed what is called a Strawberry VAT type planter as a cave complex
(and they have both used existing caves in the 37 they are in right now) plus a flat saucer too as a possible spawning site. I think (and hope) my Oscars will be happy in this new tank once it fully cycles out. I realize 75 is kind of marginal, but it's as much weight as I could afford to place on a second floor bedroom / office. Let me know what you think of my new Tank?
Aquarium is 48" Long X 18" wide X 21" tall, that's 122 cm X 46 cm X 53 cm and the metric capacity is about 284 Liters of water. All the "rocks" were boiled for about 20 minutes before using them. All they clay and terra cotta is new and uncoated.
