Hi there... I bought my fun little fishie at the Walmart amonth ago...with a 10 gallon tank. Then of course, came home and read up on what they need. I took next check and got a 75 gallon tank for him. I have it all set up and been cycling with some goldfish for past...2+ weeks.

The amonia peaked, went down, nitrites down, etc... The condition is perfect to move him...and i'm sure he would like the space. My only concern is PH.

The new tank i used the "PH 7.0" stuff where it sets/holds it as the "add x amount of drops to up" hadn't really done ANYTHING to the water... My tap water comes out 6.0, so I need an adder.

The 75 gallon has held at 6.9 sense I first set it up without a budge... But the 10 gallon is coming up 6.4-6.6ph, and i've been SLOWLY adding additives to up the PH to the same level to transfer but this water seems bent on staying <6.5PH.

With this sitution...is it better to keep playing with PH till it evens out? Or is it more important to get him in a bigger tank (with all around better water then what he has now)? Advice be great!

oscars can live on a wide variety of ph as long as its stable and above 6 you should be fine.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

my goal is simple a complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is and why it exists at all

Ok. The pet store said it would be fine, then online I read so many things of 'even a .1 unstability in ph will kill your fish', etc... I just cleaned/water changed his tank today, i will attempt the move tomorrow.
