so this is really starting to get to me.
my 235g tank has a very slight green tinge in the water its been like this for the past 4 months i have done lots of water changes and test my water weekly and all readings are as good as u can get amonia, nitrate, nitrite is all 0 and ph is stable at 6.5 ther is no visible algae in the tank and my fish r so happy that my silver dollars are actually scattring their eggs all over. anyway ive taken my water to the LFS just for a second oppinion and even they reckon that they dont see water much with such good readings.

as for the lighting there is no light excluding the aquarium light that i switch on for 2hours a day and the rest of the day the fishroom is in complete darkness.

most people cant see the green in the water as it is a very slight tinge of green but as i spend most of life in the fishroom i can see it and i hate green its a SH*:?<T color

can anyone advise me as to what possibly causes this and what i can do to rid it please???????????????????????????????????

have you check the inner glass wall? usually, a thin layer of algae form inside the glass tank. If not properly scrub regularly, it gives you shade of green or brownish color specially if your aquarium has a chance to be in contact with sunlight.

Hi
Too bad your fish were laying eggs or I would recommend a pleco for your tank. I have one in each of my tank and never have algae problems. Pleco's will clean your glass in the tank for you.
You can also buy one of the magnets that goes in the tank to clean the glass.
