welcome to oscarfishlover
If your Oscars colouration looks unnatural,as in very bright vibrant colours, then the chances are, it is probably dyed. It would be unfair of me to say that a professional breeder cannot produce an Oscar with very vibrant colours without having to dye it. We can all surmise that an Oscar is dyed by looking at photographs, but we can't prove it? I've never had a had died Oscar myself, but I'm led to believe that many of them lose their colouration after a while when the dye starts wearing off. If the Oscar is vibrant in colour but has not been dyed, then it should stay like that, if it doesn't, then you have every right to be suspicious.
