TOPIC: drift wood

ok so i went a got some slate and a nice piece of driftwood i will post pics when i figure out how lol, but the drift wood has 2 pieces of slate on the bottom i put it in and it still floats i have a piece of slate holding it down will it loose its boiency and get water logged in the next week or so

Is it proper drift wood. Did you buy it as it should just sink. it sounds like your wood is still alive so to speak. its not advisable to just add any wood you find in a forest.

no it is from my lfs bought as sinking drift wood it has 2 1/2 inch thick pieces of slate screwed to it as a base

Do you know what kind of wood it is?

I've seen those pieces of driftwood mounted on slate, and it's always wood that is perfectly dry (thus highly buoyant). I would stick a couple of rocks on top the slate to weight it down until it becomes sufficiently waterlogged to stay down on its own.
