welcome to the site.

tank layout will depend on the space available.
ideally, tank should have at least 18 inches deep
x 21 inches wide water to accommodate good swimming
space. the longer the better. give allowance if you
are planning to put on substrate, meaning a 2 inches
substrate needs at least 20 inches high tank. however,
if your tank is a pond set up, parameters will definitely
change but depth will be peg at 24 inches minimum.

one articles said that for full grown adult oscar, one
needs minimum of 50 gal size tank,... and 25 gallon per
oscar thereafter. (50 gal=1 oscar, 75 gal=2 oscar, etc.)
but here in OFL, the ideal size is 75 gal=1 oscar +25 gal
per oscar thereafter.

670 GAL SHOULD....safely accomodate five or six i beleive so you can obtain reasonable water quality with a good filtration set up and youmay even get a few tank mates in that ammount of h2o but obviously your going to have a huge capacity filtraton pump/system for a project this size....my opinion,,wish i could put one that size in but the missus would bury ME in the hole if i dug it!!!!!!!!!POST SOME PICS OF IT i would love to see that!!!!!!!

That is one huge tank. I've got 300 gallon tank and that is extremely big. Have you considered what type of filtration, heating, lighting you are going to need? I hope you realise that running a tank that size is going to be quite expensive.

If I was in your position setting up a tank this size, I would only have a couple of Oscars, I would mix it with lots of other South American fish like I've already done in my 300 gallon tank.

In a tank that size, you could probably accommodate six or seven Oscars quite easily. However, when they reach adulthood, they would create a lot of waste. I certainly wouldn't like to be carrying out water changes on it.

Anyway, keep us informed of what you do.

The tank is part of an indoor greenhouse project I'm working on and the tank SHOULD be finished next year. I'll post pics then.

you may want to consider some ideas of my soil-less
gardening. there is already a prototype of this design
in kuwait by a friend of mine. the result is very promising.

i grow a lot of plants using WET ROCKWOOL /glass wool insulation from your loft instead of soil... using a powerhead and trays to cycle the water over the rockwool like a wick... i have been growing young plants this way for about 6 years and they are frost hardy this way ,i originally did it because the running water doesnt freeze and using soil a have to keep a heater going in my greenhouse from november to march and it was quite costly but one powerhead provides enough flow for me to grow hundreds and of course theres no mess to clean up and no repotting as the root system grows ...the rockwool can be left on when they eventually go into the soil and the roots just grow through it ..give it a try ?????

yes.... but i made some innovation using the water for fish
and mapal bed instead of foam only as potting materials. the
combination is called aquaponics. if you will go back to my
posting at "write a review" with topics "my aquarium review-
minimal water change", you will be surprised that some people
can not believe i have healthy grown up oscar without changing
my water.
