hi guys received the call i have been waiting for today !!!!!! my new tank is nearly finnished 160 uk gals and is being delivered next saturday !!!!i am going to try to get another O for it but i want the albino/lutino type but with the orange markings not yellow ...just like necros A FOR ALBINO pics in the photograph and videos section .....he will be going in with a dark grey tiger..
so tomorow its off to the aquarium store to get all my goodies ready for the new set up:) i have to buy another fluval fx5...2 x 25kg of white sand..3/4 large lumps of mopani wood..new heaters x2 i am thinking about the new 300w rena unbreakable ceramic ones ??(anybody got any info on these please)
new air pump PISTON TYPE (any info or report on these please) and of course aquascaper plants...water conditioners...dechlorinators..etc etc but if anyones got any ideas for any other new goodies they have and i have not mentioned or think i need for my new set up please let me know ...and I LOVE THEM ORANGE +WHITE TIGERS

Going for unbreakable heaters is a very good idea. I can't remember which ones I've got. I think you may find the Oscars will dislodge them from the side of the tank occasionally, but they won't break them, hopefully

when you go shopping for your abino tiger be sure to check carefully for grey or black on his fins. personally i find theone wih this discolouration not a sattractive as the pure white and orange ones. good luck to you in finding the fish youwant for your new tank.

well 2 days to go for the new tank!!!!!!!!!!!! i moved the old one tonight ! what a mission!! but it will be worth it when the new ones in place ....my mrs is quite understanding ,i got to leave the old tank set up in the room as well as the new one as i cant transfer the fish for a month or so until the new one cycles ....anyone on here know of any PARTICULAR fish that are beter than others for CYCLING i have always used goldfish but i am wondering if any of you know more effective fish for cycling please ?????????oh and i am now the prowd owner of a orange and white tiger/lutino with no black or grey on his fins he/she is about 10months old and looks lovely but i cant pick him up untill next sat as i am not quite ready to receive him yet ..and i asked the fish store to empty his tank in the shop of other fish ..up the temp and salt for 2 weeks before i put him in my tank they kindly agreed and did it while i was there!!!!!!!and wrote my name on the glass of the tank with a marker pen to stop any other staff in the store messing with him.....cant wait will get you pics at the first opertunity:woohoo:

tips to fast-track cycling (fishless):

if you have existing tank running,
1) import some water from it (50% of it) together with
the extra filter pump and accessories if available;

2) add equivalent new water and run it, test after 2 days
for the water parameters. if found okey, you can drop your
fishes in it. add new water doubling the existing level.

3) re-test the water the next day, if found okey, gradually
add water daily, same quantity as the 2nd day until tank is full.

Note: there are times that water shows stability after overnight
running. test will help and can add new water again equivalent to
the imported quantity at daily dosage until full.

i have done this in most of my client.

new tanks in place only half filled it as it needs a day to squash the polystyrene bed and settle into shape without FULL WEIGHT in it as its made from 12mm glass !!!!!!!! i cant beleive the thickness on that stuff !!!!! i have seen comercial tanks with thinner glass than that ,but ND was insistant that i had it for a tank of them dimentions!!!only problem is even with a step ladder i am still about 5" too short to reach the substrate and i am 6ft 3"!!!!!! fill the other half monday and get the filter started then ...CANT WAIT TILL SHE FIRES UP
