Hello guys, sorry i have not been for a while, my laptop broke so i have ordered a new 1 which comes on friday 13th so i'll be back on here to help out.
anyway...
i recently put a large peace of driftwood standing up on on some slate into my tank, but after 4-5 days i noticed it had white fluffy algae growing on it, i did a search to see what it could be and why, but a few people have already told me to leave it and it'll go within a few weeks and is not dangerous to the fish.
but why is it here? i dont have algae anywhere else in my tank.
would it be a good idea to buy a catfish to clear it up, because i know catfish love this stuff.
problem is, i have 2 oscars which is 5-6 inches now, i jack dempsey which is about 3-4 inches and 3 clown loaches which is 3 inches each.
would a catfish be ok with these fish?

there should be no prob adding a cat to your tank provided you have the room but if you only want one to clean the algea of the driftwood it might not be wise since the fluff your talking about will clear in a short time.
however if you do want a cat there are several species to chose from and if you dont mind mixing africans or asians with your south/central americans then the list is even longer. jsut be sure to do the proper research on whatever you choose to be sure it doesnt get overly big and outgrow your tank.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

i have pictus in with my 2 10 inch oscars and have no problem at all. but remember that all fish are different so if you do get a cat you will have to watch to see how they get along, but im sure you know this already.
