Hi all, i have just change my gravel in my tank for sand. I think it gives a more nautral look what with the bog wood, also my oscar seems to like the sand better. I would like to know your thoughts on what you guy's prefer & why?

Cheers Alan

It all comes down to personal preference,
I have used both a number of times, sand is more natural and is easier to clean once you get the hang of it, but then has it downsides like getting clogged up in fliter, can become messy depending on what fish you have.
each have their plus and minus points.
i use black onyx gravel now.

Ive never even thought to use sand for anything but salt water tanks. How would you go about cleaning it?

You basically just take the gravel vac and skim the top, if you stick it in the gravel it sucks up the sand... plus it can clog filters if it gets accidently sucked in. I rarely use sand because of this, but hey, it's cheap.

Just go to a home depot or another hardware type store and buy the play sand. Make sure you wash it plenty though, the stuff is often rather dirty.
