Switching to bare bottom tank

I currently have a gravel fish tank I was thinking about switching to a bare bottom fish tank could someone help me weigh the pros and cons of doing so

I like sand. I had bare bottom works great for keeping the tank extra clean but didn't like the look. I personally hate gravel to much stuff gets stuck in between and the look.

but the thing about sand is the gas pockets or something right?

Unless it's deep and doesn't get stirred up you wont have to worry.
I like the pool filter sand. I made the switch a couple years ago and find it easier to maintain since the debris will sit on the top. I have a low suction gravel vac that I use to siphon it up and I push it right down into the sand too for a real good cleaning. I keep my FX5 intake 4 inches from the bottom and it doesn't take in much sand. I take the filter apart 2-3 times a year for cleaning and only ever find a bit of very fine sand dust in it. My aquaclear 110 will get some in it if the intake is not covered.

Go do a water change - the solution to pollution is dilution.
