Hey guys! I have the opportunity to get a custom fish tank built so I am going to go big, was thinking 800L what's a good width for an Oscar to turn around in, was thinking 3 or 4 Oscars in the tank with some serious filtration or 2 Oscars and pleco.

24in width is good, you want it to fit nice thru doorways. 2 Oscars and a plec would max that out. 3 Oscars likely wouldnt work out for compatibility and 4 Oscars would be very overstocked. A 180g is 72x24x24, a 220g is 72x24x30. 800L is about 200US gal.

Agreed with Suprd71, I really think 4 O's would be pushing it, you should be fine with two O's and a pleco in that tank. You should definitely show us some pics of that progress!

Sounds awesome. I too would do 2 oscars and a nice pleco, one that stays smaller and not the commons. Green phantoms are one of my favs. I would get 3-4 oscars to start and let them grow out a bit and see which ones like each other the most by the time they reach 6-7 or 8 inch and just keep those 2. Just keep a close eye on water quality as they start to gain size 200 gallons sounds like a lot and looks big but it's really not that much water for big fish. Take lots of pics and vids

Go do a water change - the solution to pollution is dilution.

Cheers guys! Is it worth building a bit bigger to happily house 4 or stick with 2 and a pleco. I like the idea of getting 4 and choosing a good match what if I couldn't find a home for the other 2?

Have decided to make the tank (excuse the metric) 2m long 67cm wide 80cm high! How good would that look with a few Oscars!

Don't dwell on what went wrong. Instead focus on what to do next
