JBare created the topic: My New 75!!

Hey guys! Sorry it's been a few weeks since I last posted. The day after I posted that I'd had to put my one oscar in our 20gal and the other in our 10gal I went and got a 75! We ended up only keeping 1 of our Oscar's, our tiger, and our albino is now in a 100gal setup at a friend's house. We let the 75gal cycle for a few weeks and used our media from the other tanks. We're pretty happy with the setup right now, so we're putting the 120gal on hold for the time being. I'll also try to get some pictures for you soon.

I do have a quick question though. I put our Jack Dempsey in the 75gal with our Oscar, will this be ok for them in the long run? I know the 75 is ok for Marshall (oscar) but I'm not sure if it's ok for both when they are grown. Also. Crazy happened at the fish store today I want to post about. Which forum in the best for that?

Nice upgrade!!! But yeah it won't be sufficient for both fish.

If your unsure what topic to put it in or it doesn't really fit into any you can put it in all other aquatic talk. That would cover just about anything

Yes, good job on getting the 75 gallon and rehoming one of the oscars.

No, a 75 gallon will unfortunately not be ok for an O and a JD.

"but I'm not sure if it's ok for both when they are grown."

A 75GL aquarium is insufficient now, let alone when they are grown. Stocking levels for SA/CA cichlids is based on adult size of fish in question; 75GL is a drop in the bucket when dealing w/ SA/CA cichlids, & 75GL is what I (& a few others) consider bare minimum, most others state 55GL.....either way, you do not have enough room for a JD & an Oscar.

THOSE WHO REFUSE KNOWLEDGE ARE DOOMED TO FAIL.

WATER CHANGES ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF THIS HOBBY. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE SO OR SIMPLY DON'T FEEL LIKE DOING THEM, RE-HOME YOUR FISH, SELL YOUR AQUARIUM & FIND ANOTHER HOBBY, AS YOU WILL FAIL UTTERLY, COMPLETELY, & MISERABLY.
