If you seen my last post ...do not get the Marineland!
Going to get the Eheim
I believe 150 would be sufficient for 55g

Eheim Jager is the brand I like.

Edit: Sorry, I didn't say which wattage. For a 55 gal, 150 watts should be good.

Maybe thats why he is so feisty! :P

I hate the in tank heaters. I have the Hydor in-line heaters both on my 210g and 72g bow. Nothing for your fish to bash around and it makes your tank look more realistic with the giant glass tube gone.

Yeah something wasn't right with him last night. Today I get home from work and am sitting there and all of a sudden I hear a ticking coming from the tank and he starts freaking out

For my 20L I bought one of the new Cobalt neo therm heaters. I have not set it up yet but the reviews are good. I would like to get one for my 40B also but heard they had problems with their 150-200w units recently. If I do get another I would likely want to make sure the stock is the new batch so that I know Im getting the updated units. Ive used the Eheim ones before and they are dependable but I hate the whole glass tube look in my tanks.

Hydor makes a 200 watt and 300 watt but the downfall is trying to finding the right size to fit the tubing sizes on canister filters. But it really is cool not having a heater in the tank. I had to custom plumb two of the 300 watt units into the line of one of my FX5's on my 210g. Been running perfect for years now. Very happy with them.
