Stanley created the topic: Marine tank to tropical?

Ive seen a second hand tank that was used for marine fish. It comes with a sump.

Is it possible to use this tank for my Oscar fish after a good clean?
Can i put some of the media from my exsisting filters in the sump to expediate cycle?

Any advice would be appreciated.

definitely yes... you can use the marine tank into tropical tank... and yes again... you can utilized the established filter from marine into fresh water BUT with caution.... keeping the bb in there alive, you need to gradually operate the filtration from marine to tropical... if the glass tank remains clear and clean, just give a good rinse, fill 1/4 of the capacity, run the system, and gradually fill up the tank every day until full...

my 90 gallon was a marine tank i used vinegar to remove all the coraline algae. The sump will work fine but it will prolly need to be changed up some you wont need as many sections on a freshwater setup. if you get it post pics of the tank and sump and we will be more than happy to help you square it away

Not sure. Im negotiating on two seperate tanks with sumps.

Would the type of previous marine stock make a big difference to changing to tropical?
