lukester333 created the topic: Oscar Pond??

Hi, I live in South Africa in the Eastern Cape, we have a fairly moderate climate and air temp rarely drops below 10 degrees (Celsius) in Winter, I was wondering if I could keep oscar's in my pond, I would probably need heaters for winter and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. It's a rather large pond, approximately 10 000 liters.

Regards
Luke

Sure you can. Is this a natural pond, or just a man made self contained unit?

The temperature of the pond should never go below 23C (73F) for more than one day.

It's a man made pond, I'm planning on trying to replicate my dad's koi setup with a big sump section

Normally a heater is my idea but I am not sure about ponds. How about an indoor pond?

I would be tempted to try something solar.

Something in the solar pool heating might be worth a look, but would imagine it to be rather expensive.

It's right in the front of the house and my mom doesn't want solar panels to be visible. (I'm only 14 so everything has to pass mom)
